What a splendid night we had at Harvington Village Hall playing alongside Duke’s Jazz. The gentlemen all looked dapper in their tuxedos whilst we opted for the classic little black dress look. Our solo programme included our usual range of repertoire, but as we were out as a quintet we could throw in a few special numbers such as “Over the Rainbow” and “The Nearness of You”. For the first time, Kate also sang two numbers. In the first half we did “My Funny Valentine” scored for 4 saxes and voice, and in the second set, the Dukes rhythm section joined us on stage for “All of Me”. Throw in some good old jazz standards such as “Perdido” and “Take the A Train” and it turned into a swinging night!
